TMZ first reported that the golf star filed court documents in Florida on Monday, one day after blitzing the field at the Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina. The golfer’s team confirmed the news to the Irish Independent.

McIlroy was on the driving range at Valhalla on Tuesday afternoon.
During his winner’s press conference on Sunday, McIlroy was asked about his travel plans for the week and whether he would head straight to Kentucky for the PGA Championship.
“I’ll probably go home and just sort of reset, then head up to Louisville either tomorrow night or Tuesday morning,” he said.
If the TMZ report is accurate, Monday was a much bigger reset than expected. The couple have been married for seven years and have a daughter, Poppy, born in 2020.

Coming off a commanding five stroke victory, McIlroy looked to be the greatest challenger to World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler this week at the season’s second major. The Northern Irish star was asked whether there are challenges in playing championship golf with the many distractions going on with the business side of the game of golf. McIlroy has been a central figure in the civil war between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf.
“Yeah, there is, but at the same time I think getting inside the ropes for that four or five hours or whatever it is a day, it’s a nice escape,” he said. “I don’t mind it. I’ve always been able to compartmentalize pretty well. I seem to for whatever reason play very good golf whenever I have a lot of stuff going on. I don’t know if it’s — I need that just to really, when I get on the course really focus on what I’m doing out there, but yeah, it seems to work.”
That will certainly be put to the test this week as McIlroy looks to win his first major since 2014, when he won the PGA Championship here at Valhalla.
