Kevin Van Valkenburg of No Laying Up reports that charges from Friday’s shocking arrest will be withdrawn.
“According to a source familiar with the office’s thinking, Jefferson County prosecutors are planning, as of now, to drop the charges against Scottie Scheffler,” Van Valkenberg posted on X.
Scheffler’s arraignment hearing is currently scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. The Masters champion is listed as in the field at next week’s Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial, in his home state of Texas.
A day after the golfer’s arrest, the mayor of Louisville said that there was no footage of the arrest because the arresting officer didn’t have his body cam activated, but that there was some footage from a camera located across the street from the incident.

“The officer did not have body cam footage turned on during the incident,” Greenberg said. “We will release footage that we have … to my knowledge, we have not yet discovered any video of the initial contact between Officer Gillis and Mr. Scheffler.”
On the day of his arrest, Scheffler returned to Valhalla Golf Club and amazingly shot a five-under 66. On Saturday, the events of the week seemed to catch up with two-time major winner as he fell down the PGA Championship leaderboard with a a two-over 73. It was the first over-par round of Scheffler’s season.
“I definitely did not feel like myself today,” he said after Saturday’s third round. “Yesterday happened, I did my best to recover from it and come out and compete. This morning was not my usual routine for a round. At the end of the day, I came out hoping to have a good round but I wasn’t able to get it done, which was frustrating.”
Scheffler teed off for his final round at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday.
