The wife of Johnny Gaudreau welcomed their third child, seven months after the Columbus Blue Jackets forward and his brother, Matthew Gaudreau, were killed by an alleged drunk driver while biking in New Jersey, their hometown.
Meredith announced the arrival of her son on Instagram, and shared photos from the delivery room.
“I had our third baby! 4/1/25. Another baby boy,” she wrote in the caption.
“Carter Michael Gaudreau — same middle name as his daddy, eight pounds, three ounces, 20.5 inches — exact same as his daddy,” she continued, noting, “He looks exactly like his daddy, too.”
She added: “I love you so much my baby! We are going to have so much fun. I can’t wait to give you the best life, my special boy forever.”

Carter Michael comes three months after Madeline Gaudreau, the widow of Matthew, welcomed their first son, Tripp Matthew.
Meredith announced that she was expecting another child with her late husband during a memorial service for the brothers last September.
On Aug. 29, Johnny and Matthew were biking on Country Route 551 North just after 8 p.m. when a driver –suspected to be under the influence of alcohol — tried to pass another car and fatally hit the brothers, according to New Jersey State Police.
Sean Higgins was charged with two counts of death by auto and arrested. The case is before the courts.
Higgins’ lawyers claimed the Gaudreaus were drunk at the time of the collision and that fact was hidden from the grand jury by the state.

Higgins, who is accused of chugging half a dozen beers before crashing into the brothers, has argued that the brothers were more drunk than he was while they were riding their bikes.
On Aug. 31, two days after Johnny and Matthew were killed, Meredith released a statement about her husband’s death, sharing two posts on Instagram of the beloved partner and dad.
“Thank you for the best years of my life. Despite losing you, I am still the luckiest girl in the world to have been yours. I love you so so much,” she wrote in an emotional post.
