The Leafs signed 30-year-old centre Vinni Lettieri to a one-year contract with an average annual value of $775,000 US, the National Hockey League minimum.

In 2024-25, Lettieri split the season between the Boston Bruins and their American Hockey League affiliate in Providence, R.I. In 25 games with the Bruins, the Minnesota native had three goals and two assists. In 47 games with Providence, Lettieri had 21 goals and 29 assists.

Lettieri has racked up some air miles since his first year in the NHL, a 19-game span in 2017-18 with the New York Rangers. Lettieri has also played for the Anaheim Ducks and Minnesota Wild, recording 32 points (15 goals and 17 assists) in 155 career games while posting a career average of 11 minutes 20 seconds of ice time a game.

The Minnesota native also has spent chunks of several seasons in the minors. If the 5-foot-10, 184-pound Lettieri starts the 2025-26 season with the Toronto Marlies, as is the expectation, he should be able to provide reliability when or if he is recalled.

Whether Lettieri eventually plays for the Leafs, general manager Brad Treliving has a large group of bottom-six forwards on Toronto’s roster, and that doesn’t include restricted free agent Nick Robertson or prospect Easton Cowan.
