Tavares’ 13 goals not only were the most by an NHL player in any calendar month in 2024-25, it was the most goals he has scored in any month in his NHL career.

Tavares also had seven assists, giving him 20 points in 15 games as the Leafs went 8-5-2.

“It’s remarkable what he is doing,” Leafs winger Matthew Knies said. “He has been a big example in this locker room on how to take care of yourself and how to show up prepared. It’s really awesome to see him getting rewarded for all of his hard work.”

Tavares scored in five games in a row from March 20-29, matching his career high, first done during the 2012-13 season when he was with the New York Islanders. He also became the second player in franchise history to record a five-game goal streak at the age of 34 or older. Mats Sundin, 35 at the time, did it in April 2006.

Tavares also recorded his 1,100th career point on March 20 against the Rangers in New York.

Vegas Golden Knights centre Jack Eichel, who had 23 points (eight goals and 15 assists) in 15 games was named the NHL’s first star for March.

St. Louis Blues goalie Jordan Binnington, who won eight of his nine starts, was named the third star.
