Ottawa’s PWHL team has announced it will host the Montreal Victoire at Canadian Tire Centre — 25 km down the 417 from its home at TD Place, on Friday, Dec. 6.
“We are excited for the opportunity to bring our game to the Canadian Tire Centre for the first time,” Charge GM Mike Hirshfeld said in a statement. “This game is coming on early in our season, so we’re hoping to fill the place, as we’re going to need their energy when we face our closest rivals.”
As home of the Ottawa Senators, the 19,153-seat CTC will be the third Canadian NHL venue to host a PWHL game.

A record 19,285 fans attended a Toronto-Montreal battle at Scotiabank Arena on Feb. 16, 2024, and on April 20, the two teams drew another record crowd of 21,105 fans at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
The biggest crowd the Charge played in front of last season was a neutral-site game at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, during which 13,736 fans watched Boston defeat Ottawa 2-1 in a shootout.
Ottawa’s largest home crowd of the inaugural season was 8,452 at TD Place on April 27 in a 2-0 loss against Montreal.
The game at CTC will be the third of the 2024-25 season for the Charge, which opens on the road at Place Bell in Montreal on Nov. 30 and then hosts Toronto in its home opener at TD Place on Dec. 3.
After the Dec. 6 game in Kanata, the Charge will play five straight games on the road while Ottawa hosts the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) world junior hockey championship.

“I’ve played in that arena many times, including in a world championship setting,” Charge captain Brianne Jenner said of CTC in the statement. “Our fans have earned that opportunity with how much they showed up last year. So if we can fill that arena with really loud fans, I think it’s going to be such a fun environment.”
