The wait is over.

Colour and individuality are finally in vogue in the PWHL, a league that spent its inaugural year — out of necessity, mind you — in muted tones and generic uniforms.

Gone is the uniformity from the league outfits replaced with colour and character and a newness that can only take an already super product and make it even better.

All six teams received team names and logos just over three weeks ago and on Thursday unveiled their home and away jerseys.

The Ottawa Charge starts with a vibrant red base with dark and light grey bands running across the sleeves and waist. A bold splash of electric yellow runs through the design.

The logo, a spinning O, conveys a sense of movement.

The overall look, in fact, is meant to portray energy and intensity that defines the Charge’s fierce presence on the ice.

Adding to that energized theme are small electrical charges that are incorporated into the custom numbers on the back of the jersey.

“Players and fans alike have been waiting for this moment and we couldn’t be happier with the six unique looks each team will don moving forward,” league senior vice-president of business operations Amy Scheer said in a league release.

“I think what I love most is the momentum in our logo,” Charge team captain Brianne Jenner said in a video released by the PWHL. “I think like these flares coming off gets a small detail that sends a really powerful message.”
