Emma Woods put Toronto in the lead for good with a second period goal. A strong forecheck by Woods allowed Izzy Daniel to gain control of the puck in the corner after winning her own battle and then feeding Woods who had slipped uncovered to the front of the Boston net.

The pass from Daniel was off Woods stick and over Frankel’s shoulder in fractions of a second.

It was Woods’ third goal of the year.

Jesse Compher put this one away on the power play with 2 1/2 minutes to go on a nice feed from captain Blayre Turnbull.

The game saw two pretty good net front battles that almost turned into fights with Hannah Miller and Sydney Bard exchanging pleasantries in the second and then Jesse Compher and Sophie Shirley matching that exchange shove for shove in the third.

The match also marked the return to the Toronto net by Kristen Campbell after Raygan Kirk started the previous handful of games.

Campbell was solid in this one turning aside 16 of 17 shots.

Toronto took an early lead on an Emma Maltais goal. Maltais followed up a Compher shot and got one that just dribbled past the Boston netminder.

The play was reviewed as there was some confusion as to whether the whistle had been blown before the puck entered the net but the review confirmed the initial goal call.

Megan Keller tied the game on a nice feed from Hannah Brandt five minutes into the second period. It was Keller’s fifth goal of the year.

With the win Toronto drew within two points of second-place Minnesota Frost. Both teams have played 17 games with 13 to go in the season.

More importantly the three points gives Toronto a four point edge on fourth-place Boston though the Fleet have a game in hand.
