In her place, the team has signed Whitby native and former PWHPA and PHF goalkeeper Kassidy Sauve, who had recently played with SDE of the Swedish League.

In 18 games last season with SDE, Sauve posted a .940 save percentage that was fourth in the league while amassing nine regulation wins and an overtime win.

Sauve also was in camp with the New York Sirens in the inaugural PWHL season before making the move to Sweden.

Despite her rookie status, Kirk has played a pivotal role in the Sceptres season. She was in the net when the turnaround began after a rough 2-6 start to the year. With Year 1 starter Campbell struggling, Kirk made eight starts winning five of those games.

Sauve is 28 and spent four years at Ohio State before a final year of college eligibility at Clarkson.

The Sceptres will have three games remaining in the regular season when the league returns from the International break for the women’s world championship in Czechia followed by the playoffs.

The team is currently in second place in the league, but has yet to clinch a playoff spot.

Campbell currently is with the Canadian national team in Czechia as one of the team’s three goaltenders.
