Redick joins a list that includes defending WNBA champion head coach Becky Hammon of the Las Vegas Aces, as well as highly respected assistants Kenny Atkinson of the Golden State Warriors, the Raptors’ own Adrian Griffin, Milwaukee’s Charles Lee, Kevin Young in Phoenix, Mitch Johnson of the Sacramento Kings, Denver’s David Adelman and Miami’s Chris Quinn.
The 15-year NBA veteran is a product of the famed Duke basketball program, where he was a two-time ACC Player of the Year.
Over his NBA career, Redick made a name for himself with his constant re-locating around the perimeter in order to get open and make hay with his career 41.5% three-point game. He had stints with Orlando, Milwaukee, the L.A. Clippers, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Dallas.
While Redick, 38, has never coached at any level of the game, he has shown interest in jobs in the past. Reddick told Esquire in 2022 that coaches he had during his career always told him he would one day become a coach.
Redick said he had four unsolicited offers to join teams (presumably as an assistant) in the past couple of years and seriously considered two of them before opting to stick with his growing media career.
There has been no indication from the Raptors throughout the search whether there is a favourite among the list they are currently considering or even if the list is complete.
The addition of Reddick to the interview process seems to suggest it remains very much wide open at the moment.
