Both advanced to that clash with B-event victories earlier in the afternoon — Skrlik with an 11-5 decision over Grande Prairie’s Janais DeJong and Richards with a 6-4 defeat of Sherwood Park’s Michelle Hartwell.

Edmonton’s Hannah Phillips, Edmonton’s Myla Plett and Edmonton’s Claire Booth were all eliminated from the hunt for the Alberta crown with C-side losses Friday morning.

On Thursday, it was Robyn Silvernagle and her Sexsmith Curling Club stealing one in the 10th end to earn an 8-7 win over Richards in a wild A-side qualifier. That put Silvernagle into the four-team playoff round.

Day 4 of the Alberta Scotties goes Saturday with draws at 11 a.m. — from which the final two playoff qualifiers will be determined out of the C event — and 6:30 p.m. — featuring the two Page playoff seeding games.

Hartwell, DeJong, Calgary’s Keelie Duncan, Calgary’s Kayleigh Shannon, Edmonton’s Nicky Kaufman were still alive for those final two playoff qualifiers heading into Friday’s late action. Those who won play Saturday, along with the loser of Friday night’s B qualifier, for last-chance shots at the playoff round.

The winner of the five-day event moves on to represent Alberta at the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Feb. 14-23 in Thunder Bay, Ont.
