Bob McCown is off the airwaves for now, but hopes to be back soon.
The 71-year-old said on Twitter on Friday that he had two strokes over the past couple of weeks and can’t talk or walk yet, but he’s on the road to recovery.
I guess I should let you know that I have had two strokes over the last couple of weeks and have been in hospital since. Can’t walk or talk but am getting better very slowly! Hope to get home and back on the podcast as quick as possible!
McCown is best known for hosting the popular sports talk radio show Prime Time Sports on Sportsnet 590 The Fan (formerly The FAN 590) in Toronto. McCown hosted the show from its inception in 1989 until his departure in 2019.
His style of hosting was known for its provocative and opinionated approach and he conducted interviews with a wide range of guests from the world of sports, covering various sports, including hockey, baseball, basketball and football. His show became a popular destination for sports fans in Canada.
In addition to his radio work, McCown also made appearances on television, including co-hosting Prime Time Sports with Bob McCown on Sportsnet.
His contributions to sports broadcasting in Canada have made him a prominent figure in the industry.
