The week has been filled with events showcasing the fighters, so if you haven’t been following along, here’s a recap of all that’s gone down so far.
OFFICIAL WEIGH-INS
If you were expecting drama at the official UFC weigh-ins prior to Saturday night’s fight card, you’d have been disappointed. There were a few looks of concern on a couple of the fighters prior to getting their weight, but in the end all of the fighters slated to bout in Calgary made weight.
It was Ultimate Media Day at the Hyatt in downtown Calgary where the fighters finally had a chance to square of with one another. You can tell that there is respect between them but they were definitely not afraid to get up in each other’s faces.
It wasn’t all about the Calgary card in UFC news. Dtar Conor McGregor made headlines by reaching a plea deal in his court case related to attacking a bus back in April at UFC 223. The deal allows McGregor to avoid jail time, and allows him to fight again, which may directly affect future plans by Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier.
The week kicked off with the fighters hosting open workouts at the Palace Theatre. This is where the fighters were given a chance to show off their skills and get up-close to some of the fans that packed the venue.
