During Saturday’s episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, he told guest Chris Williamson that he was steering clear of the UFC event.
“I won’t be there. I don’t go to Canada anymore,” Rogan informed the British podcaster.
“I don’t,” he said with a laugh. “I’d rather go to Russia.”
Earlier in the show, Rogan remarked that Canada’s government is “terrible” — but noted that “the Canadian people are awesome.”
Rogan’s criticism of Canada began during the Freedom Convoy days of the COVID-19 pandemic, after the Justin Trudeau government invoked the Emergencies Act when thousands of truckers descended on Ottawa to protest vaccine mandates.

Rogan called Trudeau a “creepy dictator” and “sketchy guy” and described Canada as “communist” with him as the country’s then-leader, accusing Trudeau of turning the nation into a “banana republic.”
Rogan’s feelings about Canada haven’t changed now that Mark Carney is Liberal leader and prime minister, calling Carney “just as bad” as Trudeau.
However, Rogan has said he does not think Canada should be the 51st state, calling it “the dumbest f***ing feud” and wants the two countries to make up.
“We have to become friends with Canada again. This is so ridiculous,” the podcaster said last month.
The trade war has entered the sports world, with Canadian fans booing the American national anthem during events, including the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament where Canada beat the U.S. in the final.
Canada’s federal election is on April 28.
The May 10 event at the Bell Centre in Montreal will feature a highly anticipated welterweight championship bout between Belal Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena.
Valentina Shevchenko and Manon Fiorot are set to co-headline the women’s flyweight championship.
