Red-hot Canadian Olympian Alysha Newman partners up with high-end dating app

If you’re interested in dating a social media star and Olympic medallist in pole vault, well, you’re going to have to clear a pretty high bar.

After spending her summer winning a bronze medal at the Summer Games in Paris – and also winning over social media with her celebratory twerking – Alysha Newman has now partnered with a high-end dating app.

The Canadian shared an ad for The League on her social media feeds earlier this week to launch a campaign for the app.

“You don’t want to date me, I’m always aiming higher,” Newman says in the ad, along with a series of clips of her practising and competing in the pole vault.

“Unless you do,” she says to end the clip, wearing only a towel before entering a sauna.

The League, which launched in 2015, brands itself as a “selective and high-quality community of motivated daters looking for meaningful long-term relationships.”

“Is there a more important search in your entire life? We don’t think so,” the website’s description reads. “Some things in life are important enough not to leave up to chance, and we believe stacking your odds of meeting The One is the best investment you can make in yourself.”

But, if you feel like you could be ‘The One’ for someone like Newman, you’re going to have to pony up to get access. According to the Daily Hive, a one-week membership costs a staggering $96.99.

However, if you’re looking for a long-term relationship, it might be worth the price. The app’s site claims that according to the New York Times wedding database, The League is 1,082 times more efficient than the leading dating app.

The League is available on iOS and Android in seven cities across Canada and many more around the world, including Paris – but there’s no word if any Olympians like Newman were active on it this past summer.

The pole vaulter made headlines at the Olympics in Paris for a variety of reasons. Newman was very open about her sexuality and was more than happy to help grow the subscriber base for her OnlyFans account.

Then, after setting a Canadian record with a jump of 4.85 metres in the pole vault final – good for bronze, Newman busted out a twerk, sending social media into a frenzy.

“People have different views on sexuality and what you believe in. It’s important to be what you’re comfortable being,” Newman said in an interview with Postmedia’s Steve Simmons in Paris.

“What’s cool is that I’m monetizing myself as an athlete and I think a lot of athletes in amateur sport don’t get that opportunity. To be more than just an athlete. I kind of got the monetization part first and became a bronze medalist after that.

“I knew if I wanted to stay in amateur sport, even though there is nothing amateur about what we do, I do believe I needed an income to do that. I have a hyperbaric chamber at home. I have a cold plunge at home. I see a massage therapist and chiropractor once a week. It’s expensive to take care of your body.”

On OnlyFans, Newman posts photos of herself, many a combination of athleticism and sexuality, and has a subscriber base of 25,000.

“I only see the positive comments,” Newman said. “That’s the strength I’ve developed on being on social media and I do such a good job of it. I’m authentically myself. If you don’t like me, don’t follow me.

“But if you love it and it motivates you, I hope I can inspire people.”
