MLB Best Bets May 17: Brenton Doyle Rules!

It’s another 15-game schedule on the diamond today. Here are three player prop bets worth considering.

Brenton Doyle OVER 1.5 Total Bases +120, DraftKings (Wager: 1 unit to win 1.2 units)

The Rockies rookie has gotten off to a nice start in his MLB career, especially against right-handed pitching.

Doyle is slashing .278/.316/.667 vs. RHP compared to .133/.188/.133 vs. LHP. He has been exceptional at home against righties with an OPS of 1.290.

He’ll face Reds pitcher Graham Ashcraft, who is solid but has been knocked around by righties this year.

Coors Field is a tough environment for any pitcher and it should be for Ashcraft today.

Kodai Senga OVER 2.5 Walks +100, DraftKings (Wager: 1 unit to win 1 unit)

One of the prized free-agent signings for the New York Mets this off-season has had an up-and-down year in his first season in North America.

The strikeouts have been there (26.4%), but so have the walks (14.1%).

Senga will have to face the league-best Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday night.

Tampa is middle-of-the-pack when it comes to walks, ranking 11th in the majors.

Senga has made seven starts this season and only had fewer than three free passes in one of them.

Rob Refsnyder OVER 1.5 Total Bases +130, BetMGM (Wager: 1 unit to win 1.3 units)

Seattle Mariners starter Marco Gonzales gets a left-handed pitcher’s worst nightmare: Having to deal with the prospect of the Green Monster at Fenway Park.

Gonzales has struggled against right-handed hitters the past few seasons including this one.

In 2023, righties have hit .291 with a .473 SLG% against the Mariners’ southpaw.

Dating back to last season, Refsnyder has a .939 OPS vs. lefties with that OPS increasing to 1.070 at Fenway Park.

Gonzales should have difficulty navigating Refsnyder and this Red Sox lineup.
