Jey Uso wins WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Jey Uso became the World Wrestling Entertainment World Heavyweight champion to open WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Uso, a 10-time tag team champion in WWE alongside his twin brother Jimmy, defeated Gunther in the opening match of the two-day event, which is being held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
The lead-up to the match was compelling, to say the least, after Uso won the Royal Rumble in February to earn the right and choosing to face Gunther at WrestleMania.
For weeks, Gunther attacked Uso, intimidating him and seemingly dominating him, even attacking his brother Jimmy and tethering Jey to the ring ropes and making him watch as Gunther beat his brother, wiping Jimmy’s blood all over his body.
The David vs. Goliath storyline culminated with Uso overcoming his rival, triumphantly celebrating his first world title win with his brother in the ring, as the 60,000-plus in the crowd chanted his signature “Yeet” catchphrase.
Gunther’s title reign ended at 259 days.
