The blonde bombshell has come under fire for her partnership and new commercial for clothing brand American Eagle, which features the line “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans” — a pun on “genes” — which many believe has racial undertones.
The phrase initially said: “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Genes,” before the last word is crossed out and replaced with “Jeans.”
That “corrected” tagline, “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans,” appears in nearly every ad for the campaign.

One user on X pointed out the error to the 76-year-old retired wrestler, who responded with an emoji of himself making a shushing motion.
Sweeney, who co-starred in the thriller Echo Valley with Julianne Moore earlier this year, will be starring in a biopic of women’s boxing legend Christy Martin — simply titled Christy — which will debut at TIFF later this year.
