* The Wild Ontario exhibit returns to the Butterfly Conservatory on Feb. 17. Created by Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo, the interactive exhibit features live animals native to Ontario — everything from the common toad to the nocturnal barn owl. Bilingual displays provide facts and anecdotes about animal habitats, biodiversity and more. The exhibit continues through April 29 and is free with regular admission to the Butterfly Conservatory, a tropical paradise home to more than 2,000 free flying butterflies. For prices and hours, see niagaraparks.com/butterfly.
* Table Rock Centre is the perfect place to see the “Frozen Falls” phenomenon — magnificent ice structures that form in the gorge at the base of Niagara Falls as well as trees and lampposts encrusted in a thick layer of frozen mist. The ice formations are particularly spectacular this year given frigid temperatures and significant snowfalls in the Niagara area.

* Also at Table Rock Centre, the Niagara Parks’ Heritage Team will be on hand Feb. 17-19 to assist with interactive displays on key moments in our country’s history. These include displays marking the 100th anniversary of women gaining the right to vote in Canadian general elections in 1918. Visitors will be able to try out a 1920s printing press to print their own quotes about that milestone in Canadian history.

Price: $25 for adults; $17 for children ages six to 12, children five and under are free!
