Celebrity Spaces: Heather Reier
Meet Heather Reier who wants everyone to try her cake — Cake Beauty that is. Cake Beauty is a true Canadian start up. After university, Heather began working for Roots Canada. While she loved the fashion industry, she knew she wanted to one-day work for herself. “I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. Even from a young age, the idea of creating something from nothing was very exciting for me. To take an idea and build it into a vision and then a company and then a brand was definitely the path for me,” she says. Reier describes herself as a big picture thinker and she is most motivated when she can be fiercely creative in business and brand. A beauty junkie from a young age, Reier wanted to create products that were more natural than what she was getting on the shelves of her favourite stores. She wanted to formulate items that were free of parabens, sodium chloride and other harsh chemical ingredients. At the beginning it was not a cakewalk — she would work her full-time job then come home to her mini cosmetic lab and experiment. Internet research mixed with natural product knowledge led to her mixing butters and oils to make hand creams and lotions that were both natural and smelled delicious – good enough to eat! Now 15 years later, Heather’s Cake Beauty can be found at beauty stores across the country. Soon Cake Beauty will be a global beauty brand as it continues to grow and expand by joining Marc Anthony Venere (MAV).
