Petty coke dealer cleared on gun charge over cops' screw up: Judge

A judge recently acquitted a petty cocaine dealer caught in a Scarborough traffic stop of possessing a firearm under his driver’s seat because cops failed to investigate properly. “The police investigation was incomplete in a crucial way,” Justice Timothy Lipson said in clearing Jermaine Barrows-Taylor, 26, of weapons charges last week because the car’s two passengers could have planted the weapon and officers failed to interview them. Officers released two passengers from the car after Barrows-Taylor claimed ownership of the cocaine. Officers took the passengers’ contact info and determined they had no warrants outstanding. Victim killed by gunmen without warning: Crown

Electrical engineer Nnamdi Ogba was fatally ambushed by two gunmen who fired five shots without warning as he walked to his car, a Crown attorney said in his opening to the jury. When the Rogue driver returned short time later, the driver dropped off his passengers by Scarlettwood Crt. The two men headed directly and swiftly towards Ogba who was alone in the parking lot, said Del Rizzo. The gunmen fired five bullets at Ogba without uttering a word, court heard. The gunmen hustled back to their getaway car and returned it to the parking lot where they found the hot vehicle and took cabs back to Martha Eaton Way. “These three men acted together and are responsible for this murder,” alleged Del Rizzo.
