An unmodified Polestar 3 has set the Guinness World Record for longest journey travelled by an electric SUV on a single charge. The Long Range single-motor model travelled 935.44 kilometres (581.3 miles) on a full battery over U.K. public roads. The journey took 22 hours and 57 minutes, and the Polestar 3 achieved an efficiency of 12.1 kWh/100 km (19.5 kWh/100 miles) and averaged 40 km/h (25 mph). More impressive is the fact the real-world record was set in mixed weather conditions, including rain. The drivers — Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker, and Richard Parker — switched every three hours.

The Polestar 3’s WLTP range rating is 706 km (438 miles) and during the record attempt it achieved that mark with 20% of its battery capacity still available. Once the range meter showed zero per cent left, the SUV continued for another 12.8 km (8 miles), reaching a charger before ultimately stopping.

“While the drivers pushed the Polestar 3 to the boundaries of its range capability, it goes to show how battery range has improved exponentially over the past few years,” said Polestar UK Managing Director Matt Galvin. “For a large premium SUV to go way beyond a London to Edinburgh distance is truly impressive, and with this the adage that ‘EVs can’t go far’ has been very much consigned to the history books.”

Guinness World Records judge Paulina Sapinska confirmed the result, while Webfleet provided documented and independently verified video footage, odometer readings, GPS readings, and battery-level data. The car benefited from zero modifications for the attempt, and was on standard 20-inch wheels fitted with standard Michelin Sport 4 EV tires.

As impressive as this result is, it’s still a way off the ultimate EV range record, which was set earlier this summer when a crew of GM employees drove a 2026 Silverado EV almost 1,700 km on a single charge—1,694.7 km (1,053.04 miles) to be exact. It should be noted that the Silverado trim boasts a 205-kWh battery pack. The GM record eclipsed the previous Guinness World Record mark laid down by Lucid, a 1,205-kilometre (748.75 miles) trip between St. Moritz and Munich without a single charging stop.
