- If you’re eyeing a new Toyota Prius, you’ll wanna know the 2026 XLE starts at $38,365 in Canada
- That’s a $200 premium over the ’25; a costlier Limited adds even more features
- New for this year is a fresh trim on the Prius Plug-In, a black-out Nightshade edition
They say you can’t put a price on efficiency—but Toyota has. With the 2026 models arriving in showrooms now, the brand has announced pricing for its fuel-sipping Prius. There will be two familiar trims for 2026, called XLE and Limited, with the former bound for commercials wearing a $38,365 price tag. Stepping up to the latter trim – a choice which adds the likes of ventilated front seats, an eight-speaker audio system, and several other features to the already well-equipped XLE – will reveal an MSRP of $44,480.
Actually, those trims will dent yer bank account for $41,888 and $48,003 by the time freight and assorted fees are included in the bill. When it comes to math subjects, dealerships are pretty good at adding, but not so good at subtracting. Sales taxes sit on top of those figures, of course. In this country, both those trims include all-wheel-drive as part of the deal.
Fresh on the options list this annum for the Plug-In variant of the Prius is a new Nightshade package. Adding just $895 to the price of a mid-range XSE trim, this group layers on addenda which have been dipped into a pot of inky black paint, including all over those 19-inch wheels, its door handles, bumper trim, and door sills. You can have any paint colour you wish so long as it’s white or black. Sorry, this just in: Wind Chill Pearl or Midnight Black Metallic. Our apologies to Toyota fashionistas worldwide.
Pricing for these Plug-In – don’t call ‘em Prime anymore, remember – trims start at $40,050 for a base SE, $44,785 for an XSE (plus the Nightshade if ya want it), and $48,535 for a tony XSE Premium. Why they don’t follow the trim walk of a regular Prius is beyond our pay grade, and known only to someone deep within the bowels of Toyota’s sprawling campus in Plano, Texas. They’re probably ensconced in a windowless conference room. Best not disturb them. Prices, including most fees but not taxes, shake out to $43,573/$48,308/$52,058, respectively.
Both the regular 2026 Prius and the 2026 Prius Plug-In are available at Toyota dealers right now.
