Helen Reddy may have sung, ‘That ain’t no way to treat a lady,” but contemporary country star Scotty McCreery talked the talk when push came to shove.
The season 10 American Idol winner stopped his show at the Colorado State Fair on Saturday to kick out a man who allegedly struck a woman in the crowd, reported the Daily Mail.

During the song It Matters to Her, the 30-year-old singer observed the alleged attack from the stage, according to videos posted about the incident.
The married father of one was just seconds into his song when he stopped and started shouting, “Hey, hey, hey! Right here, right here, that’s a lady you just hit, sir. Absolutely not, you just hit the lady. Police? Security? Is she OK? Get the heck out of here. On God’s green earth. At a Scotty McCreery show? What are you doing? Y’all let the cop know who hit the lady. That’s absolutely unacceptable. Whoever you are, that’s the definition of a coward, hitting a lady. Get the heck out of here.”
Colorado State Fair officials confirmed an incident occurred during McCreery’s show, but didn’t reveal if there was an arrest.
“We can confirm that an incident took place at the Scotty McCreery concert where a man assaulted a woman and the performer stopped the show,” Olga Robak, director of communications with the Colorado Department of Agriculture, told USA Today.
“This incident is still under investigation and we cannot comment further.”
