CRIME SCENE: 4 charged, victim in serious condition after Oshawa assault

Three men and a woman were charged after a violent assault at a home in Oshawa over the weekend.

Durham Regional Police said officers were called Sunday at about 5:10 p.m. to a residence in the Graburn Ave.-Drew St. area. Police alleged that three men were seen dragging another into a residence. Officers arrived on scene and saw several parties fleeing the residence.

A suspect was taken into custody without incident while two other suspects remain outstanding. A search of the home resulted in two more males and a female being found. They were taken into custody without incident.

A firearm was allegedly found inside the home.

The victim was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Nathan Daniel Kelly, 36, of Oshawa, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a loaded restricted/prohibited firearm, possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm with no licence, possession of a prohibited device and possession contrary to an order.

Mackenzy Lee Sigouin, 28, of Oshawa, was charged with possession of a loaded restricted/prohibited firearm, possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm with no licence and possession of a prohibited device.

Kevin Boutilier, 45, of Niagara Falls, was charged with possession of a loaded restricted/prohibited firearm, possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm with no licence, possession of a prohibited device, two counts of possession contrary to an order and three counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

Daniel Carrigan, 62, of Niagara Falls, was charged with possession of a loaded restricted/prohibited firearm, possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm with no licence and possession of a prohibited device.

3RD SUSPECT CHARGED IN CLARINGTON SHOOTING

A third suspect has been charged in a Clarington shooting and stabbing that hospitalized three people in 2022.

Durham Regional Police said officers responded on June 19, 2022, at about 1:45 a.m. to an armed person call in the Newtonville Rd.-Concession Rd. 4 area.

Police said two males were found suffering from gunshot wounds and taken to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while an additional male attended a local hospital suffering from stab wounds and was taken to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators identified three suspects and on March 23, 2023, arrested Trenton Bignell and Auston Day.

On Tuesday, a third suspect was found and taken into custody without incident. Nathaniel Falconer, 22, of no fixed address, was charged with assault, discharging a firearm with intent, two counts of aggravated assault and three counts of assault with a weapon.

DRUGS, WEAPONS CHARGES FOR DUO

A 68-year-old and 25-year-old face drug and weapon charges.

Toronto Police said officers on Monday arrested two men as part of a drug-trafficking and firearm investigation.

Police alleged that the accused were involved in trafficking cocaine throughout Toronto and one of the accused was also in possession of an illegal firearm and had illicit drugs in their possession.

Sarkis Yildirim, 68, of Toronto, was charged with two counts of trafficking a schedule II substance and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.

After the first arrest, police executed a search warrant on a residence in the Sheppard Ave. E.-Birchmount Rd. area.

As a result, the second accused was arrested, and police allegedly seized a Berretta 9mm APX semi-automatic handgun with two magazines loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition, about 56 g of fentanyl, 22 g of cocaine, $1,140, a bulletproof vest and digital scales.

Nathaniel Reid-Doyle 25, of Toronto, was charged with trafficking a schedule I substance, three counts of possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate, possession of a firearm other than a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence, possession of a restricted weapon device knowing no authority, possession of a loaded regulated firearm, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, careless storage of a firearm and careless storage of ammunition.

CLARINGTON MAN ACCUSED OF BREAK-INS

A 21-year-old Clarington man has been charged following a series of break-and-enters in Bowmanville.

Durham Regional Police said officers responded on Dec. 3 at 1 a.m. to the King-Liberty Sts. area for an alarm call at a business. They arrived to find a business had been broken into.

At about 1:45 a.m., officers received another call for an alarm at a business less than 1 km away.

Officers arrived and allegedly found the suspect inside the business. Police said the suspect tried to flee on foot and was quickly arrested.

An additional business was located within the vicinity that had also been broken into.

Jeremy Richardson was charged with three counts of break-and-enter non-dwelling with intent, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and three counts of possession of break-in instruments and failure to comply with a release order.

At the time of his arrest, the accused was out on a release for similar charges.
