CRIME SCENE: Man dies a week after being shot in North York

Toronto Police  say a man has died in hospital a week after he was shot.

On Tuesday, Aug. 27, at 12:05 a.m., police were called to a shooting in the area of Sheppard Ave. and Weston Rd. and found a victim who had been shot in a business.

The victim was transported to hospital with critical injuries.

On Monday, the victim died in hospital.

The victim has been identified as Arslan Ahmad, 21, of Brampton.

SEXUAL ASSAULT ARREST

Toronto Police have made a sexual assault arrest after an attack on the TTC.

On Friday, police were called at 6 p.m. to the Finch subway station, in the Yonge St. and Finch Ave. area.

A woman had been walking along a second-floor hallway at the subway station when she was sexually assaulted by a man.

Shemar Dyer, 26, of Toronto, has been charged with sexual assault.

POLICE OFFICERS INJURED

Two Toronto Police officers were injured after locating a stolen vehicle.

Police say it happened at 2 a.m. on Tuesday in the area of Jane St. and Chalkfarm Dr. in North York.

Police say a cop car was damaged during the incident.

The officers were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Occupants of the stolen vehicle fled and police recovered a firearm.

No other details have been released but the investigation is ongoing.

TEACHER CHARGE WITH SEXUAL ASSAULT

Caledon OPP have charged a teacher in a historical sexual assault investigation.

In November 2022, an a victim reported a sexual assault that happened in 2002.

At the time, the accused was teaching in Caledon.

Luigi Di Tomasso, 64, of Stoney Creek, has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference,  and invitation to sexual touching under 16 years of age.

Until June 2024, Di Tomasso was a teacher in Caledon, Brampton, and Mississauga.
