CRIME SCENE: SIU probing police firearm discharge during stolen vehicle investigation

The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the discharge of a firearm by a Toronto Police officer Monday evening in North York.
The SIU said police were allegedly following a reportedly stolen vehicle at about 6 p.m. on Needle Firway, where they stopped the car and ordered two male occupants to exit the vehicle. At some point, an officer allegedly discharged his firearm and the men were arrested.
No one was struck by the firearm discharge and no serious injuries were reported during the arrest.
Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.

MAN ACCUSED OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING MINOR
A 40-year-old Toronto man has been charged with sexual interference following an incident act allegedly involving a minor.
Toronto Police said that on May 17, police responded to a sexual assault call in the Yonge-Dundas Sts. area.
The victim, a child, was in a corridor leading to the washrooms inside a mall when the suspect allegedly approached and attempted to initiate a conversation before sexually assaulting them.
Cops said the victim ran to their friends for help and the suspect fled.
Remington Puopolo was arrested May 20 and charged with sexual interference, failure to comply with a release order, failure to comply with a probation order and breach of recognizance.

SUSPECT SOUGHT AFTER EXPOSURE INCIDENT
Toronto Police have asked for help identifying a suspect in an indecent act investigation.
Cops said that on April 20 at about 6 p.m., a female victim was using the public washroom in the basement of a restaurant in the Kingston Rd.-Warden Ave. area.
Police said when the victim exited the washroom stall, an unknown male suspect was standing in the doorway, allegedly exposed himself and committed an indecent act. The victim shut the door and the suspect returned to the bar. The victim then alerted staff and the suspect left, having been last seen driving away in a black sedan in the Kingston-Valhalla Blvd. area.
Police said the suspect was allegedly found in the women’s washroom multiple times before this incident.
He’s about 30 years old with short, dark hair and facial fair. He last seen wearing a black Adidas track suit with white stripes and black shoes.

RBC BRANCH ROBBED IN WATERDOWN
Hamilton Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a suspect after an armed robbery at an RBC branch in Waterdown.
On Thursday at about 6 p.m., police said a suspect carrying a handgun entered the bank and demanded staff turn over cash before fleeing.
The suspect is male and he was wearing a black face covering, grey Puma hoodie, black pants and black Adidas shoes with white soles. He was operating a grey Mazda SUV before and after the robbery.
