Durham College student accused of threatening to start school shooting

A Durham College student from Whitby has been charged after allegedly threatening to start a school shooting.
Durham Regional Police said they received information on Thursday from the RCMP that a concerning message on messaging app Snapchat had been intercepted.
“The message indicated a female’s desire to initiate a shooting at a school in Oshawa,” Durham police said in a news release. “Investigators were able to trace the message back to an 18-year-old Durham College student.”
Officers went to the Durham College campus at 2000 Simcoe St. N. where the accused was arrested without incident.
Following her arrest, police said a Criminal Code search warrant was executed at her home address in Whitby. During the search, police said 18 firearms, five air-soft guns and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition were seized.
Police said the firearms were acquired and stored lawfully.
Jhusmin Pagkaliwagan has been charged with uttering threats.
