2 men charged with gun crimes as cops probe east-end shooting

Two GTA men are facing several firearm and drug charges linked to a shooting in the city’s east end.
Toronto Police said they responded to a shooting call Tuesday in the Cosburn-Greenwood Aves. area of East York at about 2:20 p.m. after a suspect and the victim were involved in an altercation.
Police said the suspect discharged a firearm and struck the victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The Gun and Gang Task Force took over the investigation and located a suspect Tuesday in the Thickson Rd.-Taunton Rd. E. area of Whitby, allegedly seizing a semi-automatic handgun and cocaine during the arrest.
Owen Bayi Makouangou, 22, of Oshawa, was charged with discharging a firearm with intent, possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) and two counts each of possession of a firearm without holding a licence, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence, possession of a loaded regulated firearm and occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm.
Guy-Christophe Bangoura, 26, of Toronto, was also arrested as part of the investigation and charged with possession of a firearm without holding a licence, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm and possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine).
