6 people charged after 15 firearms, $215Gs in drugs seized

York Regional Police, with the assistance of OPP, have laid numerous charges against six people following the seizure of a drugs valued at $215,000 and seven handguns, four shotguns and four rifles.

At the time of their seizure, nine of the firearms were loaded and among the drugs seized were fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, opioids and cannabis.

York cops say the Project Madruga investigation began in February when it was reported that an individual was involved in the trafficking of controlled substances in Georgina.

Through investigation, other people were identified and were believed to be trafficking across multiple jurisdictions, spanning from Toronto to Huntsville.

Officers learned the same associates were being investigated by the Orillia OPP Community Street Crime Unit, resulting in the launch of a joint investigation.

On April 16 and May 8, a total of six search warrants were executed in York Region and Toronto, with the assistance of the Toronto Police and OPP.

Gary Laird, 34, of Toronto, faces six drug-related charges, eight firearm-related charges, and one count each of possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and break and enter.

Renee Goomansingh, 24, of Toronto, faces three drug-related charges, six firearm-related charges, plus one for possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Justice Comeau, 28, of Newmarket, faces six drug-related charges and one of obstruct police officer.

Dariel Hidalgo Guzman, 32, of Newmarket, faces six drug-related charges plus one each of possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000 and one of obstruct peace officer.

Ayden Beauchamp, 24, of Toronto, faces two drug-related charges while Ali Victor, 39, of Aurora, faces five drug-related charges and five firearm-related charges.
