Police in Peel Region say a child was taken to hospital with critical injuries after wandering off and being found in the water in Erindale Park on Saturday afternoon.
Peel Regional Police said in a post on X that they responded to a call in the Mississauga Rd.-Dundas St. area at 3:36 p.m. for a young child who had “wandered off” before being located by first responders.
First responders reportedly found the young child around 4:20 p.m. and took them to hospital.
Police did not provide the child’s age.
In a follow-up post, police advised residents to avoid the Erindale Park area due to a “large police presence.”
In July, a three-year-old boy, Zaid Abdullah, was found dead in the Credit River about 23 hours after he went missing while playing with other children in Erindale Park.
