CRIME SCENE: Woman, 19, accused of murder after baby girl killed in west end fire

A 19-year-old woman is now accused of murder in the fire-related death of her four-month-old daughter in the city’s west end last week.

Toronto Police say emergency crews responded to a fire call at a residence on Trethewey Dr. – northeast of Eglinton Ave. W. and Black Creek Dr. – just after 1 a.m. on Oct. 25.

A woman and her daughter were both pulled from their home and the baby was rushed to hospital with no vital signs. The infant was later pronounced dead.

The baby girl’s mom, who was also transported to hospital, suffered serious injuries but she survived.

Kathrynn Quita Batugal, of Toronto, is now charged with second-degree murder and arson/fire disregard for human life.

BRAMPTON MAN, 23, ACCUSED OF SEX TRAFFICKING

A 23-year-old Brampton man has been charged with ten offences in connection with a sex trafficking investigation.

It’s alleged Jahmal Paquette exploited a female victim in the sex trade for profit by exercising control over numerous aspects of a her life in the GTA.

Paquette has been charged with four counts of utter threat to cause death, two counts each of procuring and fail to comply with release order and one count each of assault – female over 17, and exercise control.

Peel Regional Police believe there may be more alleged victims in the GTA and are encouraging them to call 905-453-2121, ext. 3555.

FEDERAL OFFENDER SOUGHT

The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a federal offender wanted on a Canada-wide warrant as a result of a breaching his statutory release.

Corey Richardson, 55, is serving a 13-year sentence for 13 counts of robbery and is known to frequent the GTA.

Richardson is described as Black, 5-foot-7 and 190 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

He also has several tattoos including “Lord is King” on his left shoulder, Malcolm X with a rifle on his right upper arm, “Christina,” a rose and a heart on the left side of chest, ACC on his right forearm, a rose and “Kim” on his right calf, and “Loca Negra” on his upper back.

MAN STABBED IN NORTH YORK, SUSPECT FLEES: COPS

A man is in hospital after he was stabbed in North York on Thursday afternoon.

According to an update on social media, Toronto Police said officers responded to reports of a stabbing in the Keele St. and Wilson Ave. area around 5:15 p.m.

When officers arrived, the victim was found with unspecified injuries and transported to hospital by paramedics.

Police said the suspect fled the area in an unknown vehicle.

CALEDON MAN, 41, FACES IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE

A 41-year-old Caledon man has been charged with impaired driving for having a BAC (blood alcohol concentration) of nearly four times the legal limit.

Caledon OPP say officers were dispatched to the area of Ivan Ave. in Caledon for a report of a suspicious vehicle shortly after 6 p.m. on Oct 24.

Officers located the vehicle and the driver and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was allegedly impaired by alcohol.

Navdeep Gill was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concertation (80 plus).

His driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

MAN, 44, ACCUSED OF BREAKING INTO BRAMPTON HOME

A 44-year-old man with no fixed address is accused of a residential break-and-enter in Brampton on Tuesday.

Peel Regional Police allege  officers responded to a  call and found two people forcing their way into a residence in the area of Goreway Dr. and Cottrelle Blvd. around 1:40 p.m.

One of the suspects allegedly fled the area in a dark Dodge Ram vehicle with Ontario licence plate SJ3630 while a second suspect was arrested after a brief foot pursuit, police said.

Cecil Lindsay is charged with break-and-enter with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Investigators are attempting to find the outstanding suspect and anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call police at 905-453-2121, ext. 2133, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

MAN, 53, ACCUSED OF KNIFE-POINT ROBBERY IN UPPER BEACHES

A 53-year-old man has been charged in connection with a robbery in the Upper Beaches on Wednesday.

Toronto Police allege a man entered a retail store in the area of Kingston Rd. and Woodbine Ave., approached the checkout with a knife and demanded cigarettes from a store employee around 7:15 p.m.

The victim called police and officers found a suspect inside the store, allegedly armed with a knife.

Stephen Linthorne, of no fixed address, is charged with robbery with an offensive weapon and weapons dangerous.
