CRIME SCENE: Man, woman wanted as police probe slew of commercial thefts

Toronto Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man and a woman accused of multiple thefts on New Year’s Eve in Trinity-Bellwoods.
Cops said that on Dec. 31 between 1:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., two people went to six different businesses in the Queen St. W.-Ossington Ave. area with a man using a rock to break the front door and targeting the cash tills once inside, while the woman was a lookout and used her backpack to hide stolen property.

The male suspect is 40 to 45 years old, about 5-foot-10 to 6-foot and 180 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, black balaclava, black sweatpants with white stripes on the sides, grey socks or long johns, white shoes and white gloves. He was also carrying a green bag.
The female suspect is in her late 30s to early 40s, about 5-foot-6 and 120 pounds with dark brown hair. She was wearing a dark blue or black jacket, blue jeans and black boots and was carrying a red and black backpack.

5 SOUGHT IN HOME INVASION SHOOTING
York Regional Police are seeking five suspects after shots were fired and a resident was injured during a Monday morning home invasion in Vaughan.
Cops said they responded at 3:49 a.m. to a residence in the Sir Sanford Fleming Way-Grand Turk Ave. area and learned multiple suspects broke through the home’s rear glass door with at least one armed with a handgun.
Police said when the residents were confronted, a struggle ensued and the gun was discharged. A victim was located with a gunshot wound and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
While no other residents were injured, investigators believe one of the suspects may have been and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
During the struggle, the suspects dropped the handgun and fled in a dark-coloured SUV. The gun was recovered at the scene.
The first suspect is a 25- to 30-year-old male and about 5-foot-10 with a skinny build. He was wearing a black hooded sweater and black balaclava and carrying a handgun with an extended magazine.
The second suspect is a 25- to 30-year-old male and about 5-foot-8 with a skinny build. He was wearing a balaclava.
The third and fourth suspects are 25- to 30-year-old males, while there was no description available for the fifth suspect.

2 CHARGED AFTER CALEDON HOME INVASION
Two Caledon men face multiple charges in connection with a Thursday morning home invasion on Ann McKee St. in Caledon East.
OPP said the first suspect was operating a black Jeep Wrangler and later that day the vehicle was located. A suspect was charged following a search warrant executed on the suspect vehicle and a residence with a handgun, ammunition and a stolen Porsche allegedly among the seized property.
Abhishek Shukhand, 26, faces nine charges including break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit an indictable offence; criminal harassment-threatening conduct; unlawfully in a dwelling house; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and five firearm-related offences.
A second suspect was identified on Sunday with Abhinav Bhardwaj, 25, facing four firearm-related charges.

DOZENS CHARGED DURING PEEL RIDE CAMPAIGN
Peel Regional Police said they charged 104 people and stopped more than 12,000 vehicles during this year’s RIDE campaign.
Officers laid 42 charges for operation while impaired by alcohol, 82 charges for blood-alcohol concentration in excess of the legal limit, five refusal or failure to provide a breath sample and two charges for operation while impaired by drugs.
The campaign ran from November until January.
2 HURT AFTER ALTERCATION DOWNTOWN
Police made an arrest two people were hospitalized following an altercation Tuesday afternoon at a residential building downtown.
Toronto Police said in a post to X that officers responded at 5:55 p.m. to a building in the Jarvis-Dundas Sts. area.
Police said a victim was “located with a laceration” and a suspect, who was also injured, was found and arrested. The injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening, police said.
MAN IN HIS 50s HOSPITALIZED AFTER STABBING
Police say a man in his 50s was rushed to a hospital after being stabbed in North York on Tuesday night.
In a post to X, Toronto Police said officers responded at 8:03 p.m. to the Yonge St.-Steeles Ave. E. area for reports that a man was stabbed.
Police said the suspect fled the area on foot westbound on Moore Park Ave.
