CRIME SCENE: Man, 25, accused of drug trafficking in Cambridge

Two people face charges, including a man from Brampton, after a months-long drug trafficking investigation resulted in their arrests in Cambridge.

Waterloo Regional Police say officers with the Direct Action Response Team executed a search warrant in Cambridge on Friday.

Investigators seized a loaded handgun, crossbow, approximately one kilogram of suspected fentanyl, as well as suspected cocaine and prescription medications.

A 25-year-old Brampton man and a 40-year-old Cambridge man are charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking as well as weapons offences.

They were held in police custody for a bail hearing.

TRIO ACCUSED OF TRAFFICKING WOMEN IN WATERLOO REGION

Three men are accused of trafficking women in Waterloo Region over the past year.

Waterloo Regional Police say officers began an investigation into the alleged human trafficking of women in April 2024.

Following the investigation, members of the Human Trafficking Unit arrested two 36-year-old men and a 50-year-old man.

The accused face multiple offences including human trafficking; receiving material benefit; possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; exercise control, direction or influence; advertise sexual services; money laundering; and utter death threats.

The three accused were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
