CRIME SCENE: Scarborough man charged with drug, firearm offences after traffic stop

Peel Regional Police have charged a man with 13 drug- and firearm-related offences after a vehicle stop in Mississauga.

Cops said they were patrolling near Dixie Rd. and Courtneypark Dr. on June 30 at about 2:30 a.m. when they investigated the operator of a vehicle for a suspected Liquor Licence Act offence.

Police said officers allegedly discovered the individual to be armed with an illegal .40-calibre, compact Glock handgun and in possession of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and crystal meth.

Brandon Joseph Miles, 26, of Scarborough — who is not legally authorized to possess firearms — was charged with eight firearm-related charges, four drug-related charges and one alcohol-related charge.

CHILD KILLED, 6 OTHERS HURT IN HAMILTON CRASH

Police are investigating a fatal three-vehicle collision Sunday at about 9:34 p.m. in the Trinity Church-Guyatt Rds. area of Hamilton that left a 10-year-old child dead.

Cops said a GMC Sierra allegedly travelling southbound on Trinity Church at a high rate of speed crossed the centre line in an attempt to pass another pickup truck.

Police said the Sierra collided head on with a northbound Honda Civic carrying four occupants and the impact propelled the Civic backward into the path of a northbound Ford Explorer, causing a secondary collision.

The Explorer was pushed into the west ditch and came to rest several metres south of the scene.

All four occupants of the Civic sustained injuries with a 10-year-old pronounced dead at a hospital. One passenger remains in life-threatening condition, another is in critical condition and the fourth suffered minor injuries.

WOMAN, 38, CHARGED AFTER ASSAULT AT RALLY

Toronto Police have charged a 38-year-old woman with assault following a Jan. 25 demonstration in the Dundas-Yonge Sts. area.

The victim attended a demonstration and was allegedly approached by the accused, who yelled derogatory remarks before assaulting the victim, who sustained minor injuries.

Jennifer Clermont faces assault charges.

MAN, 79, KILLED IN BOWMANVILLE CRASH

Durham Regional Police said a 79-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle collision in Bowmanville.

Cops responded Sunday at about 3:50 p.m. to a crash on Bennett Rd., north of Port Darlington Rd., after a vehicle travelling westbound on Kissingbridge Lane exited the roadway before colliding with an embankment.

The male driver was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
