CRIME SCENE: 4-month-old dead after going missing in Toronto

A four-month-old baby is dead after police responded to a “suspicious incident” at a residential building in the city’s north end.

Toronto Police said they were called to the building after a family member reported the baby missing just before 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the Marlee-Roselawn Aves. area, northwest of Allen Rd. and Eglinton Ave. W.

Police said the baby was found and sent to a hospital, where it was pronounced dead.

“While we recognize this is a tragic situation that raises many questions, no further details will be shared at this time,” Const. Ashley Visser said in an email to the Toronto Sun. “We want to reassure the public that there is no safety risk.”

A cause of death was not provided and the circumstances leading up to the baby’s death are unknown at this time.

Visser said more details will be announced when they are available.

The investigation is ongoing.

TORONTO MAN, 18, CHARGED FOR MOTORCYCLE THEFT

An 18-year-old Toronto man has been charged following a motorcycle theft in the east end.

Toronto Police said that at 6:46 a.m. on Wednesday, the suspect entered a residential building underground parking lot, allegedly stole a 2023 Suzuki GSXR600, fled the area and was last seen in the Coxwell-Danforth Aves. area.

Lord Layling has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000 and fail to comply with release order.

YOUTHS CHARGED

Two 16-year-olds from Brampton face numerous weapons charges following an incident at Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School in Caledon.

The OPP says on Tuesday shortly after 1 p.m., officers responded to a weapon-related incident at the school and it was placed into lockdown shortly after 1:30 p.m and lifted just before 3:30 p.m.

There were no reported injuries.

Both 16-year-old boys were charged with possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, trafficking in firearm, weapon, device or ammunition, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm.

One of the two was also charged with failure to comply with undertaking.

PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED

A 54-year-old Toronto man has been charged after a parking enforcement officer was allegedly assaulted.

Toronto Police said that on Nov. 15 at about 8 a.m., in the Church St.-Queen St. E. area, a parking enforcement officer issued a ticket to a vehicle during the morning rush hour.

The driver of the vehicle arrived and allegedly began an argument before assaulting the officer. The driver was then arrested.

Guo Cheng has been charged with assaulting a peace officer.

YORK COPS SEEKING WITNESSES AFTER HIT-AND-RUN

Police are on the hunt for suspects after a pedestrian suffered major injuries in a hit-and-run in Markham.

York Regional Police said officers responded to a crash on Wednesday at about 8:15 p.m. in the Bullock Dr.-McCowan Rd. area. Officers found a female pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle when they arrived at the scene.

She was taken to a hospital with major but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the crash site and cops believe they were driving a grey Chevrolet sedan.
