CRIME SCENE: Toronto man wanted for alleged assault, suspect sought for anti-Israel slurs

A Toronto man is wanted for an alleged assault inside a vehicle in the Flemingdon Park neighbourhood last month.

He’s also wanted for failing to comply with a release order.

Toronto Police said an investigation began for an assault and forcible confinement that occurred sometime in April in the St. Dennis Dr. and Linkwood Lane area, near Don Valley Pkwy. and Eglinton Ave. E.

It is alleged the victim and the accused were having a conversation in a vehicle when the accused became angered and assaulted the victim.

According to police, the victim demanded the accused let them out, but he would not stop the vehicle and continued to drive. Some time later, the accused let the victim leave the vehicle. Police did not release any information on the relationship between the pair.

Tomas Melko, 24, is wanted for two counts of assault, forcible confinement, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

He is described as 5-foot-10 with a medium build and short brown hair.

SUSPECT SOUGHT FOR ANTI-ISRAEL SLURS

Toronto Police are turning to the public to help identify a person suspected of writing anti-Israeli slurs at a North York bus stop.

Police said officers responded to a radio call Sunday at 4 p.m. for mischief at a bus shelter in the Finch Ave. W. and Bathurst St. area.

It is alleged that the suspect wrote anti-Israeli slurs on a public advertisement in a bus shelter.

Cops said the suspect was captured on camera by a passerby. The suspect then fled the area.

The suspect is described as a male with black hair and black beard. He was wearing a Blue Jays windbreaker jacket and grey pants.

Police said the investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence.

BRAMPTON MAN, 78, ACCUSED OF SEX ASSAULT

A 78-year-old Brampton man is facing charges after a young girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at a park earlier this month.

Peel Regional Police say that on three separate occasions, a man approached a female under the age of 12 at Giffen Family Park near Bramalea and Larkspur Rds. in Brampton and sexually assaulted her.

On May 8, Harmohinder Singh was arrested and charged with three counts each of sexual assault – female under 17 and sexual interference.

Investigators believe there may be additional alleged victims ask anyone with information to call the Special Victims Unit at 905-453-2121 ext. 3460.

CASH, JEWELRY STOLEN IN AJAX HOME INVASION

Two males are wanted by police after money, electronics and jewelry were stolen during an armed home invasion in Ajax.

Durham Regional Police said officers responded April 28 at 5:35 p.m. to a home in the area of Williamson Dr. W. and Tozer Cres.

According to police, the homeowner heard a knock at the front door and went to answer it. When the victim opened the door, two suspects forced their way inside.

One of the suspects had a firearm and demanded that the victim hand over jewelry, cops said. The suspects stole a quantity of cash, electronics and jewelry worth $10,000 before fleeing.

The victim did not report any physical injuries, police said.

Investigators believe this is an isolated incident.

The first suspect is described as Black with possible braided hair and wearing all black clothing. The second suspect is described as Black with a light complexion and wearing a grey sweater.

The suspect vehicle is described as a black Toyota Camry four-door sedan with tinted rear windows and alloy rims.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have video footage, including home surveillance or dashcam, to contact Det. Cst. Madhavan of the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2563.

MAN WANTED FOR BACKPACK THEFT NEAR QUEEN’S PARK

Toronto Police are turning to the public for help identifying a man accused of stealing a backpack near Queen’s Park two months ago.

It is reported that, shortly after 6 a.m. on March 20, a man was in the Queens Park Cres. W. and College St. area on a bicycle.

Police said the man approached the victim and stole his backpack before he fled and was last seen in the Yonge St. and Dundas St. W. area.

The man is described as 30-35 years old and 5-foot-9 with a medium build. He has short dark brown or black hair, long sideburns, a moustache, and short chin strap beard. He was wearing a black baseball cap, dark blue or black jacket/hoodie, dark pants, and white running shoes while carrying a dark backpack.

COPS SEEK DRIVER AFTER TEEN CYCLIST INJURED

Toronto Police say they are seeking additional information after a teen cyclist was injured following a fail-to-remain collision with a driver in North York last week.

Police said officers responded to a call on Friday at about 12:35 p.m. for a personal injury collision in the Princess and Dudley Aves. area, near Sheppard Ave. E. and Willowdale Ave.

A 14-year-old male cyclist was travelling westbound on Princess Ave. when the driver of a white four-door Honda Civic struck the teen while heading southbound on Dudley Ave.

Cops said the driver didn’t remain at the scene. The cyclist was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are asking local residents, businesses, and drivers who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident to contact investigators.
