Durham Regional Police say officers responded to a robbery-in-progress call at a Telus store located at 1300 King St. E., near Townline Rd., around 12:30 p.m.

“An employee opened the door for a female, believed to be a customer, and three males rushed into the store,” police said in a statement released Thursday.

Cops said the bandits “assaulted the employee and forced him to the back of the business in an attempt to access the safe.”

However, the crooks were unable to gain access to the safe and they fled before officers arrived.

A fourth man remained in a silver Honda CR-V parked nearby, police allege, explaining the trio of would-be robbers fled to the awaiting Honda, which was last seen driving west on King St.

The employee did not suffer any physical injuries.
