A firebug is sought for setting two vehicles and a garage ablaze in the city’s west end Thursday morning.
Toronto Police say officers responded to the first of two arson fires in the area of Shaw St. and Yarmouth Rd. – southeast of Ossington Ave. and Dupont St. – around 4 a.m. and found a vehicle burning.
“No one was in the vehicle at the time,” Const. Laurie McCann said in a statement released Saturday.
She said a man was “seen loitering in the area” but he had fled by the time officers arrived on the scene.
Two hours later, around 6 a.m., McCann said officers responded to a second fire in a detached garage in the same area.
“Both the garage and the vehicle were on fire,” she said, adding nobody was in that vehicle either.
However, McCann said a man was seen on the garage rooftop before the fire was sparked.
And again, he had taken off by the time officers arrived.

Investigators have now released images of an unidentified suspect hoping someone recognizes him and come forward.
He’s described as a man in his 30s, about 5-foot-7, with a slim to medium build, light brown hair in a ponytail, clean shaven, and was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue sweatpants and grey shoes.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts is urged to call police at 416-808-1400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
