Man, 41, arrested for suspected hate-motivated criminal harassment
The accused allegedly harassed two people online repeatedly with communications that included 'xenophobic and racist comments'

A 41-year-old faces a dozen charges for alleged online harassment that cops suspect was motivated by hate.
Toronto Police say investigators were made aware on July 14 that an individual was allegedly sending online communications to two separate victims.
It is alleged that in June and July, someone “sent repeated online communications of a threatening nature to the first victim,” police spokesperson Stephanie Sayer said in a statement released Wednesday.
She said several of these communications allegedly included “threats to harm the victim.”
Also in June and July, Sayer said, someone allegedly “sent repeated online communications of a harassing nature to a second victim.”
She said the communications to both victims allegedly included “repeated xenophobic and racist comments.”
As a result of the investigation, a suspect was subsequently identified.
Investigators executed a search warrant where the suspect was located and arrested him on Wednesday.
Christopher Maatman, of Toronto, is charged with nine counts of criminal harassment and three counts of uttering threats.
