Firefighters had to rescue a man after he fell into a sinkhole in a Yorkville alley on Friday night.
Toronto Fire Services responded to the area of Bay St. and Davenport Rd. around 10:30 p.m to help the trapped and injured man.
“It took about 30 minutes to get the man out of the hole,” Platoon Chief Sofie Lasiuk told reporters at the scene. “The hole was about four feet down, but not too wide.”
She said the man was taken to hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries.”
“He stated that he was walking along the alley and simply fell in,” Lasiuk said.
“I don’t know why the hole was there, but we have notified Toronto Public works to attend to it and fill in the hazard,” she added.
