Ontario Provincial Police say officers from their City of Kawartha Lakes detachment and the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, along with fire and EMS, were dispatched to the crash on Hwy. 7 near Doubletree Rd. – just east of Hwy. 35 – just before 10:30 a.m.
“The driver of a motorcycle, from Lindsay, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the OPP said in a statement released Saturday. “The driver of the tractor trailer was taken to local hospital.”
The OPP said Hwy. 7 was shut down between Hwy. 35 and County Rd. 36 “while members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene.”
“The cause of the collision remains under investigation,” police said.
Anyone who witnessed the deadly crash, or who has information or video footage that could help investigators, is urged to call the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
