An Italian restaurant in Toronto has been slammed with more than a dozen infractions from Toronto health inspectors.
Mirra’s Place, which has been open since 1961, advertises that it offers up authentic Italian cuisine including house specialties veal piccata, gnocchi alla Napolitana and salmon al griglia.
The restaurant, located at 3157 Dufferin St., north of Lawrence Ave. W., received 14 infractions – three crucial violations, six that were considered significant, and five minor – on Monday, according to Toronto Public Health.
Mirra’s was given a conditional pass and remains open.

It was last inspected in June 2022, passing with one or more minor infractions.
This time around, the three infractions it received were failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration and ensuring a food handler washes hands as necessary to prevent contamination of food.
The third involved “hot-holding potentially hazardous foods at internal temperature below 60C,” inspectors listed.
Its six significant infractions were failing to maintain handwashing stations with soap and paper towels and ensuring surfaces in the restaurant were cleaned as necessary.
The other violations were using a dirty cloth for cleaning surfaces in which food comes into contact, utensils that were “not of readily cleanable form” and food equipment that was “not of sound and tight construction.”

Inspectors also noted that mechanical equipment on the premises were not maintained to provide a “sufficient chemical solution rinse.”
As for Mirra’s minor infractions, the restaurant failed to ensure equipment surface was sanitized as necessary, while the cleanliness of the food-handling room, including its ceiling and floors, were not maintained.
The food-handling room also had materials that were not regularly used, another minor violation.
