Two homes catch fire in Midtown Toronto after gas line hit

Fires erupted at two homes in Midtown Toronto after a natural gas line was hit Saturday afternoon, police said.
According to Toronto Police, the fires began at 4:15 p.m. on Balmoral Ave. near Yonge St. and St. Clair Ave. W.
Homes on the north side of the street were evacuated, police said. Cops closed Balmoral Ave. to traffic and pedestrians between Yonge. St and Avenue Rd.
“Main body of fire has been knocked down,” Toronto Fire said in an online update late Saturday afternoon. “Thankfully, no reported injuries.”
Toronto Fire said Enbridge Gas workers were at the scene while firefighters continued their operations.
Toronto Police said the gas line was eventually shut off.
Roads were reopened hours later, police said in an evening update.
