Two restaurants in the city received closed notices from Toronto health inspections over multiple infractions.
Lucky Dragon Restaurant, located at 3203 Dufferin St., received eight violations — two crucial, three significant and three minor.
The establishment, which features authentic Chinese cuisine, remained closed to the public following an inspection on Tuesday, according to Toronto Public Health (TPH).
The two crucial infractions were failing to protect food from contamination or adulteration, but the more concerning issue was that the restaurant was “maintained in (a) manner permitting health hazard (insects),” which prompted a summons and health hazard order, which is pending as of Wednesday.
The three significant violations were failing to ensure equipment surfaces were cleaned as necessary, using utensils not free from open seams that come into contact with food, and failing to protect against the harbouring of pests.
Lucky Dragon’s three minor infractions were that the floors in the food-handling room were not kept clean, while materials not regular used were also kept in the food-handling room.
Also, the equipment surfaces were not sanitized as necessary.
Los Tres Panaderos, about three kilometres south of Lucky Dragon, also received a closed notice from TPH on Tuesday, due to three violations, according to the public health agency.
The lone crucial infraction was the eatery was “maintained in (a) manner permitting health hazard (rodents),” resulting in the summons and health hazard order pending on Wednesday.
The traditional Mexican bakery also received two “significant” infractions, including failing to protect against the breeding of pests, which also contributed to the closure order.
