WARMINGTON: Alleged attacker accused of two sexual assaults, assault while on bail

Article content
This is a shocking story of multiple females allegedly being sexually assaulted by a male predator, who police allege was not just on bail for a previous sexual assault charge but was convicted of sexual assault.
Welcome to Ontario where all the courtesy in the world is given to alleged assailants, while victims receive little consideration.
Two alleged sexual assaults and an assault allegedly took place while Rick Junior Arson was before the courts on a 2023 sexual assault. He has been convicted of that crime, which happened in Timmins, and is still awaiting sentencing.
Perhaps this time, Ontario’s justice system will find the wisdom to deny Arson bail. For the safety of women in the province, there is a strong argument to be made to not grant his release.
But who knows what will happen? Don’t hold your breath.
After all, this 26-year-old from Mississauga was on bail prior to his conviction for the 2023 sexual assault in Timmins, as well as while waiting for sentencing.

“It was a horrifying case in Timmins, too,” said a police source involved in the probe. “The woman was victimized in a locked room.”
Now Peel police have him in custody charged with random attacks on three women in Mississauga – all during the time he was either before the courts on the 2023 sexual assault or awaiting sentencing after being convicted.
“If we had been told he was before the courts or even later found guilty, we would have told the public about it,” said a cop on the case.
This is as an ugly dropping of the ball of justice.
“On Friday, April 4, Rick Junior Arson was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, kidnapping with the intent to cause a person to be confined or imprisoned and assault” in cases that police say occurred in Mississauga between 2024 and 2025.
“He remains in custody, awaiting a bail hearing,” said Det.-Const. Lesley McNaughton, of Peel’s special victims unit. “The accused was already on charge for offences in Timmins, Ont., in April of 2023. He was convicted of those charges. We believe there may be additional victims and are urging anybody with information to contact Peel special victims unit or Crime Stoppers.”
As Peel Deputy Chief Nick Milinovich, who called this a case of “stranger sexual violence,” said, “sexual assault and gender-based violence carries devastating effects for survivors and our communities,” and Peel police will “hold those responsible accountable.”
But will the judges and justices of the peace do their part to not only mete out justice but protect innocent women.
When you have a protest leader like Tamara Lich facing prison — and who has already served 49 days without bail for a non-violent truckers’ convoy — it seems only fair to ask why would someone like this person be given such leniency?
Perhaps the best person to ask is Premier Doug Ford himself. The father of four daughters has been calling out the judges lately for their decisions – including mocking them, saying perhaps there should be a “judges’ party” running in the elections.
Why are judges and justices of the peace not scrutinized for their decisions like everybody else in society?
Let’s go through the list of allegations against Arson that occurred when he was already before the courts on similar charges.
As Milinovich said “on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, at approximately 9 p.m., it is alleged that the accused attacked and sexually assaulted the victim, a female in her 30s, after following her on his bicycle in the area of Monica Dr.”
He continued: “On Monday, March 24, 2025, at approximately 5 a.m., it is alleged the accused attacked and sexually assaulted a second victim, a female in her 30s, after following her in a black sedan in the area of Redstone Rd. and Homeside Gardens.”
And thirdly, “on Wednesday, April 2, at approximately 5:30 a.m., it is alleged that the accused attempted to pull a third victim into his black sedan, a female in her late teens, in the area of Redstone Rd. and Netherwood Rd.”
Now while I must say the charges against Arson have not been tested in court, I also feel compelled to say that I am told by police the alleged victims in these alleged attacks are all struggling to heal from such trauma.
Milinovich said all four of the alleged victims were contacted by police to let them know this information was coming out. They didn’t know the man alleged to be their attacker was already before the courts on charges similar to what police say they went through.
“We don’t want to see any further victims,” said one officer on the case, who added DNA evidence will be utilized in upcoming proceedings.
While this is a massive failure of the justice system and needs a full review, there was also excellent police work on display in this troubling case.
“The police are here to keep the community safe and protect victims,” said Chief Nish Duraiappah. “We are working closely to support the brave survivors in this troubling case. This is another example of the value of the work done by police and the advocacy towards addressing the system’s gaps which require it.”
In the meantime, Arson is set to have another bail hearing this month along with his sentencing for the conviction related to the 2023 attack. If he’s convicted of those three new charges, that would be four serious convictions.
Time will tell what kind of punishment he receives but for now he’s in custody. But if he gets released again, hopefully this time women in Ontario are given a heads-up about it.
