A 27-year-old woman is accused of a suspected hate-motivated incident at a TTC station in North York last summer.

Toronto Police claim a woman assaulted and threw alcohol on the alleged victim, then uttered anti-East Indian comments and threats around 8:30 p.m. on July 2, 2024.

The alleged victim did not know the assailant, police said in a statement released Thursday.

Investigators subsequently identified a suspect and an arrest warrant was issued for her arrest.

Mursal Abdul Basir was taken into custody on Tuesday.

The Toronto resident is charged with assault and uttering threats of death or bodily harm.

Police said investigators are treating the alleged incident as a “suspected hate-motivated offence.”
