Call it Trumpet, Twitter's Elon Musk advises Trump of social media app

Whoever said life is just high school with more money was right.

Elon Musk, who purchased Twitter for $44 billion on Monday, told former U.S. president Donald Trump that his up-and-coming Truth Social app is a “terrible name,” reports the New York Post.

“Truth Social (terrible name) exists because Twitter censored free speech,” Musk tweeted on Wednesday.

“Should be called Trumpet instead!”

Still, Musk was impressed that Truth Social was outdistancing both Twitter and TikTok on the Apple’s most-downloaded list for free apps.

Trump’s platform is being billed as a social media alternative for conservatives who have faced censorship on other platforms like he did on Twitter.

Musk’s deal puts the two leaders in competition but there’s also been speculation he’d re-instate Trump’s Twitter account, which had close to 90 million followers, once he’s in control of the company.

Trump was banned from Twitter and other social media platforms after his supporters participated in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.

Still, the former president told FOX News he preferred his own alternative even if Musk would “make improvements” at Twitter.
