Lacey Lo Cunningham, 32, was charged with improper relationship between educator/student for allegedly engaging in a relationship with an 18-year-old female student at Woodlands Christian Academy, where she taught.
The Houston Chronicle reports Cunningham allegedly started texting with the student last August. The teacher/student tandem had a coffee date before going to church and later spending the night together at Cunningham’s apartment.
Court documents obtained by the Chronicle noted Cunningham and the student had more than 20 sexual encounters before the young woman told her mother, who then called cops.
On Dec. 14, cops showed up to Cunningham’s home, where she admitted to sharing a bed with the student but maintained things were never physical. The teacher told authorities the overnight ventures were initiated by the student.

SPECIAL-ED TEACHER JAILED FOR SEX WITH TWO STUDENTS
An ex-special education teacher from Gurley, Ala., has admitted guilt to engaging in sex acts with two students.
According to WHNT, Lyndsey Sherrod Bates, a now-former teacher and volleyball coach at Madison County High School, was sentenced Tuesday to time served plus three years probation after pleading guilty to a count of having sexual contact with a student and three counts of distributing obscene material to a student.
As part of a plea deal, a 10-year prison sentence meant for Bates was suspended.

Bates was accused of having sex with a 17-year-old boy and sending explicit photos and texts to another student who was at least 16 years old, according to court documents. AL.com reported Bates resigned from her teaching position one month prior to being arrested last April.
Two days after her arrest, Bates’ husband, Andrew, filed for divorce, citing “incompatibility.’ The divorce was finalized 14 months after they were first wed.
Bates will now have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life, Madison County Assistant District Attorney Tim Douthit told AL.com.
“She’s going to be a sex offender and felon,” he said. “But we’re not sending people to jail for consensual sex without any evidence of coercion.”
