The congresswoman was mocked over comments she made about Elon Musk in which she contested his intelligence and morals while condemning his role in U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration.
AOC posted a video on Instagram in which she blasted Musk’s influence over the federal government as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“This dude is not smart, and the danger in the lack of intelligence and the lack of expertise that Elon has, I mean, this guy is one of the most morally vacant, but also just least knowledgeable about these systems that we know of,” the 35-year-old said in reference to his efforts to reform government spending.
Ocasio-Cortez slammed the tech “dude” for not doing “their homework” and “putting 19-year-olds” in positions of power where they can try to “raid” government systems, including classified information at the Treasury department.
“This dude is probably one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met or seen or witnessed,” she ranted.

AOC also accused Trump of handing over much of his “power” to the Tesla CEO.
“A lot of you are asking about Elon. ‘What do we do?’” she said in the Instagram Live video.
“And that’s the right question to be asking because what Donald Trump has done is that he has completely given up his power and handed a lot of it over to Elon Musk.”
Republicans and others scoffed at Ocasio-Cortez’s efforts to insult Musk’s intelligence.
“AOC calling Elon Musk ‘unintelligent’ might actually be the dumbest thing she has ever said, which is really saying something,” conservative pundit Charlie Kirk sneered.
Author Scott Adams wrote: “My dog thinks I’m dumb when I don’t give her a treat every single time I see her. Same energy.”
GOP operative Kevin Smith joked, “He’s literally going to Mars… She has a [hard] time getting to Queens.”
AOC’s comments come days after DOGE obtained access to the federal payment system that distributes $6 trillion a year.
